Description
Several of our readings today are about living by the Spirit. Elisha receives the spirit when Elijah is taken up to heaven and demonstrates this when he parts the waters. The prophets, like Elijah and Elisha [2 Kings 2:1-12, 6-14], and leaders of Israel, like Moses and Aaron [Psalm 77:20], were led by God and God’s Spirit – “God’s Spirit has given us life, and so we should follow the Spirit.” [Galatians 5:25]. God’s Spirit now lives in all believers and it’s only with the Spirit that we can love our neighbour as ourselves – as the fruit of the Spirit is produced in us [Galatians 5:1, 13-25]. These resources have been designed to help us explore what living by the Spirit means.
Fruit We Need engages our tastebuds – using dried apple and sparkling juice – as we spend time in confession, reflect on the fruit of the Spirit we most need in our lives at this time and hear words of assurance.
Life by the Spirit is an interactive reading exploring two versions of the Galatians reading concurrently.
Fruit of the Spirit highlights how most versions of Galatians 5 use the term fruit of the spirit, singular, not plural, and explores what this means. It could be used as an Early Word or introduction to a Sermon/Teaching time.
Spirit of the Living God Fall Afresh uses a hopefully well-known chorus as we bring the needs of the world to God in prayer.
