Description

Today’s activities focus around Psalm 100, and Matthew 9:35-10:8.  Psalm 100 reminds us that because God is the good Creator who overflows in mercy and love and faithfulness, and because He cares for us in similar ways to a shepherd taking care of his sheep, we have good reasons to praise Him!  This is a great thing to remember, and to create space in our church gatherings for praising God, especially when our lives and the things we are surrounded by can feel like they are dragging our eyes into the here-and-now, rather than up in worship and praise of our great God.

Matthew 9:35-10:8 takes us straight to the heart that drives Jesus’ mission, and the reason for the mission strategy that we are still part of today: “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them…” (Matthew 9:36).  And so Jesus teaches, proclaims, and heals.  And He calls on others and empowers them for this same missionary journey.  He calls on His disciples (and us) to pray for more workers (Jesus followers) to be on mission for Jesus.  And He sends His own disciples out on their very first mission journey, empowering them with what they need to be His hands and feet and mouth piece in the areas that Jesus sent them to.

Today’s activities include two Creative Bible Engagement ideas, and two Interactive Prayer ideas
