Description

Bible, we hear of people who remain confident in God even when everything around them seems to be falling apart. These people know that God will forgive, restore, protect, and guide them even if they feel forsaken (or like a worm as the Psalmist David did!).
On Good Friday, we remember the death of Jesus – a day of darkness when there seemed to be little hope or any light. And yet, even in the midst of the betrayal, anguish, pain and suffering there was hope. There was light. There was confidence.
These resources help us to reflect on the darkness of Good Friday, and the darkness of our lives helping us become aware of God’s hope and light in dark situations.
Three of the resources focus on the Good Friday story (John 18:1-19:42). The fourth resource, a Bible engagement based on the Psalm 22 lectionary reading, helps us reflect on how we can remain confident during dark times. Through simple creative activities, actions, and reflections, it is hoped that these resources will help people be comfortable sitting with the darkness of Good Friday, knowing that God brings hope and light in unexpected ways to our lives, and to all of God’s creation.
