This suite of resources has been created by a collaborative team from across the Queensland Synod of the Uniting Church, to help congregations, communities and families celebrate Advent together intergenerationally.
Love in Action: Preparing and Nurturing the Garden of our Soul.
During season of Advent and Christmas, we will use the lectionary readings (RCL year C) to Rejoice together one and all. Each week is themed:
1. Advent One: December 1st Rejoice and SEE
2. Advent Two: December 8th Rejoice and HEAR
3. Advent Three: December 15th Rejoice and ACT
4. Advent Four: December 22nd Rejoice and FEEL
5. Christmas: December 25th Rejoice and CELEBRATE
6. Post Christmas: December 29th Rejoice and KNOW
The material has been created for the 2024 Advent & Christmas season for these dates but can be used in any year.
There are a few parts of the resource, and all can be used together to connect what happens in worship, with the ordinary, everyday parts of life.
- The Great Rejoicing Advent Challenge
Designed to be printed and made available to families connected to church ministries like playgroup, mainly music, messy church, and early learning centres. Through challenges, scavenger hunts, prayer, mindfulness and other seeing, hearing, acting and feeling activities, this resource is designed to introduce families to the advent theme of rejoicing.
Providing and encouraging use of this in your wider community will help connect these families to what is happening in the gathered church community during the Advent and Christmas season. - Media files
